Diversity

Was macht eine moderne Gesellschaft aus? Ein wichtiges Element ist, dass sie offen ist für Unterschiedlichkeit. Diversity nennen das die Amerikaner und beziehen diesen Ansatz auch auf Unternehmen als Werthaltung. Offen zu sein für unterschiedliche Backgrounds, ethnisch, Geschlecht, Alter, Bildungswege, politische Haltung... Steffi ist diesem Thema auf die Spur gekommen im Dialog mit multinationalen Unternehmen. Diese entwickeln hochaufgehängte Diversity-Programmen, die Dachmarkenkommunikation und HR umfassen. Auch Richard Florida weist darauf hin, wenn die creative class von toleranten Umfeldern in Städten angezogen wird.

Letzte Woche erlebten wir, was diversity in Deutschland heißen kann. Beim Halbfinale Türkei - Deutschland. Man hätte befürchten können, dass diese Partie Konflikte schürt oder radikalisiert wird. Im Gegenteil war es ein gemeinsames Sportfest, bei knappen Ausgang für Deutschland und einer starken türkischen Mannschaft. Fans feierten, zum Teil zusammen. Im Vorfeld wirkten Politik und Medien und wiesen auf die Besonderheit der deutsch-türkischen Beziehungen gerade für Europa hin.

Was der Mittwochabend zeigte, ist dass unsere Gesellschaft divers ist und von unterschiedlichen Identitäten geprägt. Man ist Türke, Deutscher, Italiener, Spanier, Pole, zugleich Europäer, Amerikaner und Münchner, Kölner, Berliner und Fan der jeweiligen Mannschaft, in deren Teams Stars aus diesen Ländern spielen. Ich denke, social networks und das Internet unterstützen diesen Trend. Das MySpace oder Xing-Profil zeigt, welchen Networks man angehört und welche Interessen man hat - ganz verschiedene persönliche und soziale layer.

Sevenload-Gründer Ibo Evsan hat eine Video-Website dazu geschalten, "Living Together in Europe", die ein Forum schafft für diesen change to diversity, mit Statements von Dr. Burda und Helmut Markwort. Grand Theft Auto IV

Das war eine feine soziologische Betrachtung in Süddeutschen Zeitung über die vierte Version von Grand Theft Auto. Der Held schafft als Mafia-Aufsteiger (Sopranos lassen grüssen) Identifikationsraum zwischen Gut und Böse, ganz abgesehen vom enormen Realismus der Grafikanimation und der Möglichkeit, aus dem Spielstrang auszubrechen. Spiele sind die starke Form dieses Jahrhunderts.

ZDF: cash cow or public value?

Cash Cow or Public Value? This title German public TV network ZDF has put to its annual forum on television  which is held in 41st year today. This responds to the intense debate on the quality of television and the digital strategy of the publicly financed networks. New York's Piazza

Here a rendering of a new quarter planned in New York by Tishman & Speyer. Some Italien flair of a piazza. Another example of the ongoing city redesign taking place in this decade.

Swiss Dark Fair

If you are in NYC these days, have a look at the Swiss Institute for Contemporary Arts with its exhibition Dark Fair.... I liked the visual, doesn't it look good? Via Marina of Karma International.

Chanel's art bag

Art, style, architecture and mobility seem to merge with Chanel's Mobile Art Container travelling around major capitals this year. To start with Hong Kong where it landed like a spaceship. Design by Zaha Hadid and commissioned by Karl Lagerfeld a definite 21century installation creating an immersive brand experience of its bag line and using the city as staging ground. The normadid character to me is expressing the mobility of a global society and creates a time exclusivity. And the iconic images are framed by the media reporting in their arts & style sections or blogs like this.
